My travel personality is basically living a double life. One side of me craves epic history—I’m talking walking through the ruins of Athens – Greece like a lost philosopher, pretending I’m a Roman senator in ancient Rome – Italy, decoding hieroglyphs in Cairo – Egypt, wandering the sacred streets of Jerusalem – Israel/Palestine, power-strolling the Great Wall of China like I’m on dynasty business, feeling awed in Lalibela’s – Ethiopia rock-hewn churches, and channeling my inner explorer in the clouds of Machu Picchu – Peru.
Then there’s the other side: the professional vacation potato. Drop me anywhere with light blue water and zero responsibilities, and I’ll be the happiest human alive. Or toss me in some peaceful, pine-scented mountain hideout with a good view and a soft breeze—and I’ll call it paradise. No agenda, no problem!
